Cosmetic Nose Surgery
There are several reasons why an individual would consider undergoing cosmetic nose surgery. The primary ones are aesthetics and health benefits. A secondary reason would be professional purpose. The reason people undergo plastic surgery of this type for aesthetics is obvious. These people feel they would look better with a different nose. Health benefits vary greatly, but a common reasons for this type of surgery is the correction of a deviated septum. An individual’s profession might not seem like a proper reason to undergo surgery, but consider which individual is more likely to receive a role if both are accomplished actors with similar experience and one has undergone surgery to be more attractive while the other is fairly ordinary. Sometimes the ordinary individual will win out but most of the time the physically appealing individual will land the job.
Nose cosmetic surgery is performed with specialized tools and should only be undertaken by a properly licensed physician. Any would-be patient must consider the recommendations of medical professionals in regards to which surgeon to choose. The truth is that the price will vary greatly between individual doctors, but a “great deal” might not seem so impressive if the patient has to continually have revision surgery due to lack of surgical skill on the part of their cosmetic surgeon.
The typical process of cosmetic nose surgery involves two different techniques. The first is the closed technique which is usually done for smaller corrections and adjustments. In this version the external skin is not touched and the nose is reshaped from the inside. The open technique involves cutting a small partition of flesh between the nostrils called the columnella and raising the skin of the nose up so that the surgeon has a larger area to work within the nasal cavity.
Side effects from this procedure can range from swelling and bruising, to horrible disfigurement. The normal recovery time is around two weeks barring serious complications.
